What We Can Do Together is an inclusive dance piece by Lisi Estaras / MonkeyMind Company in collaboration with the Southafrican Unmute Dance Company.
In this dance performance, choreographer Lisi Estaras once again brings diversity to the stage. Eight outstanding performers are united in What we can do together. Europeans and Africans, young and experienced dancers of different cultural backgrounds, of gender and dance style, of body and ability. They want to be together, to meet and construct a world of desire. However different, the mixability dancers search for their own language – sign language, body language, spoken language, dance language, written language…. All means are good for communicating. The result is funny, revolutionary, energetic, moving, impressive, absurd or simply beautiful.
Everything takes on meaning, no matter how trivial a movement or action is or seems. Is everything what it appears to be? What is normal? How do we see each other and the world? For what would it give, were we allowed to look in a different way?
What We Can Do Together is an exploration of the Other and its surprising reality.
A brave leap into the deep.
